My work as a Master of Ceremonies

During the past fifteen years of being active in radio and TV, I've been privileged enough to be the MC ( Master of Ceremonies ) at several events. These include working with the Springbok Supporters Club, WP Rugby, Mr Tokyo Sexwale, and several other organisations and brands.

There is a significant difference between doing this type of work at a golf day compared to a stadium with 50 000 screaming fans. The risks are high and you need experience to make it work. Every venue and audience is different and needs to be judged on merit and logistics, and quite often you need to think on your feet when called upon.

When I do this type of work I engage the organizers about the sound facilities, the schedule of events, other celebrities or honored guests sponsors etc..... All of these need to be taken into account when hosting an event, big or small. Many of these events are broadcast live to TV and together with the event itself it is critical to make sure that everything is well synchronized.

Here is a list of some of the events I have MC'd.

  • World Cup Trophy handover 2007, 50 000 fans, Newlands
  • Cape Town stadium inaugural match Stormers s Boland, 40 000 fans
  • Pre-match entertainment, Newlands, 50 000 fans
  • Golf days, either as a talk show host or event presenter
  • Bastille Festival - Golf day and VIP Ball
  • Exclusive VIP events
  • MMA fight nights, Caesars, Johannesburg, 3000 fans
  • Local sporting events ranging from 50 people up to 10 000
  • etc...
