Take the PR while you can

Take the PR while you can
The lack of desire to get the PR or media attention various sports bodies have to get their cause or sport media airtime has completely blown my mind.
I've done just over 200 interviews during the past four months, ranging from national presidents, national coaches and national team captains. All of whom were very gratefull for the opportunity.

However as soon as we reach the local levels, and ironicaly these are the local development officers, there seems to be a complete lack of willingness to give their organisations publicity. This from someone who has been appointed into a position of responsibility. What was clear though with many of them was quite concerned that their title was broadcast correctly.

My advice to the organisations out there... appoint people who have the institution interest at heart, people who are energetic and creative. There is nothing worse than a miserable boring PR...

In the meantime have jol and take it all to the next level

Thank heavens for the credit crunch, and social media
Being in radio exposes me to so many people and what they are up to. You wont believe whats going on in the world today. And would you know Cape Town is well up there with the rest of the world
It really is just the lack of exposure and positive media that keeps people in the dark about where were going and what we're doing to get there.

Quite frankly I think this is mainly due to bad management and the lack of communication strategies from those that have been in management. This is changing and its changing fast. In todays times the brand manager has to spend his the budget wisely, the times of hit and miss media is gone. The luxury of unlimited budge is gone and accountabilty to shareholders even greater.

Th need for accuracy is now critical... more to follow..

My show, Mon-Fri. 6pm-7pm
Its been an interesting 6 weeks for me on GHFM
Hard to believe its 6 weeks backs at Good Hope FM. Its been fun being back on breakfast but not easy. My body clock has had to adjust back to the hours.

My show from 6-7 in the eve has been another story all together. Its hard to believe how much prep goes into just one hour. So far I've spoken to almost every top athlete in SA and most of the leading administrators. Missing out on the interview with President Zuma was obviously a disappointment but I moved on quickly to bring you continued value. The interview with SA Rugby president Oregon Hoskins was quite cool.

One of my regulars on the show from here on forward is SA's leading Mobile Marketing expert Dave Duarte. Dave an I will be exploring the digital and mobile lifestyle.

In addition to that I will shortly begin my gadget, movie and TV reviews. I am quite concerned about the value we get in the media. As you will learn during my discussions with Dave, the fact that we all have so much choice today, means that the media houses have their work cut out for them as far as content delivery goes.

As for the rest its great living in Cape Town and even though I lived here all my life.... it gets better everyday.

Cheers
JP

President Jacob Zuma no longer on my show

Hi All

Due to unforseen circumstances President Jacob Zuma will no longer appear on my show this Friday.
I am still waiting to find out exact details. My humble appologies to my listeners.

He has however said that he will be with GHFM sometime within the next few days.

Sorry about this I have so many of your questions lined up and I was looking forward to it as much as you were.

Cheers

I will interview Jacob Zuma on Friday
I will be interviewing SA President Jacob Zuma this Friday. I want you in on this.
I have the rare priviledge to interview SA president Jacob Zuma this Friday at 6pm on Good Hope FM. He'll be live in studio on my show, The Power Hour, which is Mon - Fri , 6-7pm.

When I talk to him I want you to be talking through me.
I will be discussing matters related to South Africa, the Western Cape and off course Cape Town.

Please send me your questions and comments. What bugs you, what are you unhappy or happy about. Can we say anything positive for a change.

These are all important for both of us.

I look forward to your responses.

Cheers
JP
